I had written up this loooooong post on the subject of friendship. Oh Lord, it went on and on, as I am prone to do. But in proofreading it, I realized that it was 99% bullshit. I decided to boil it down.
I have the best friends. I always have. I don't know why, and I do not deserve them. Every night before I go to sleep I thank God for those people who have made my life so interesting and rewarding and fun. I wish I could let them all know, past friends and current, how much I appreciate them. This pathetic substitute will have to suffice for now. If you are now or ever have been a friend of mine, please know that I love you. (You know who you are.)
My only hope is that I can be as good a friend to others as they have been to me.
The end.

Wow! Love you too, Bob. Question:
A: What have they been putting in your pineapple juice down there>
B: Can I have some?
Bart
Speak of the devil! Bart, you know full-well what they put in pineapple juice down here: water! Well, (ahem) rum-flavored water, that is ;) Come to think of it, there's not much water in it at all. Get your butt back down here and you certainly can have some! I've got a...well, it's some sort of frozen rum drink right here with your name on it. Trouble is, it's gonna go bad so I better drink it soon. Well, I'll get Daniel to make you another one later. And I'll tell you what: I'm going to keep having him make them for you every day until you and Rebecca return. How's that for generosity!
Thanks for the kind words, amigo.
Y do u think that u dont deserve them...Am sure u do.. Keep up the spirits!!
Thank you, Emmie, that is a nice thing to say. But when I say I do not deserve my friends, it is because I always seem to be on the receiving end of their kindness and generosity. It seems lopsided to me - I get far more than I give.
It is funny...when looking at what others do for us, we always try to measure that against what we have done for them. You are the best friend ever and know damn well that you give of yourself plenty, and don't ask for anything in return. I had a great time on the trip! I can't wait for the chance to go back. Later.
Matt
It's funny. Folks best described as "lone wolves" tend to be generous in the ways that really count. A glad-handling, Sid Social type might be the life of your party, but it's your lone wolf friend who'll help you clean up afterward. And bring you a Bloody Mary.
